What’s the idea behind this site?

To introduce Welsh legends and stories to a wider audience.

Who’re you then?

I’m Owain, a welshman currently living in Germany. I like languages and love Wales, its history and its legends, so I thought “why not combine these interests?”

I’m not a writer, so if you spot any mistakes, let me know — the same goes for any CSS / layout tips!

Where are the pictures from?

All pictures on this site are free to share and use under the Creative Commons Licence. Flickr has been my main source, but the impressive dragon from the homepage is from Wikipedia. There are also many high-quality pictures to be found on the pngimg.com website.

If you feel I’ve used one of your images improperly, get in touch, then change the licence settings of your Flickr account!

Where are the stories from?

All the stories are famous legends from Wales, but like all legends, there are many different versions of each. These are the versions I know from my childhood.

And the translations in the other languages?

They were done by me. I owe a great deal of thanks to Siegfried for his help with the German texts, and also to Óscare for his patience with my Spanish.

Did you create this site all by yourself?

More or less. This is the first site I’ve ever created from scratch, so it’s been a steep learning curve. My biggest thanks go to w3schools for their fantastic tutorials, as well as to Ian Lunn for his “Parallax” tutorial, which taught me a lot about how Java and CSS work together.

So what’s next?

Norwegian.

Great!
